OP1 - english release

OP1 is the new Cia Phila7`s contemporary music-dance-image show conceived and directed by Mirella Brandi.

It explores the limits between imaginary and real having Optical Art as main reference, while its continuous creative process is based upon interaction between four artists: performer and choreographer Lali Krotoszynski, video artist Rodrigo Gontijo, lighting designer Mirella Brandi and musician Muepetmo.

Body, light, music and video are live and executed by their own creators, building the experience situated in the threshold of space and media.

OP1 plays with ambiguities on perception in the territory of paradox and dream. The show intends to play with the public´s visual stability and mental habits.

The choreography sets a dynamic relation among body, light and video graphic patterns projected, created in real time. The electronic musical base especially composed plays with time pace and creates a continuous flux of atmospheres, ranging from outlining a melody to its ironical deconstruction. The lighting manipulates the image of the body in motion, revealing, hiding or distorting its parts also delimiting the space creating compositions entangled with the projected images. And the video, by its turn, cuts the scene, pulses, multiply and juxtaposes layers of points of view of the scene.

OP1´s project has been awarded by the Rumos Itaú Cultural Dança 2006 program that has commissioned its development in 2007.

The production was selected by SESI Dança 2007 project to tour through 12 cities in São Paulo State between July and September of the same year, establishing the group´s dynamic of creative collaboration.

Presently the group is in the process of creating new developments of the show for its next presentations in Rio de Janeiro between March 26th and 29th at Nelson Rodrigues Theater, in Montreal between April 23rd and 26th at Tangente and in May 9th in New York at Monkey Town.
